I had to finish last weekend’s assignment about shooting signage and symbols. It took me almost a week to think about where would be a cool place to shoot. Then it dawn on me why not Hollywood/Highland. On one hand, it would be an ideal place with all the stars on the sidewalk with lots of signs and symbols. But on the other hand, It’s crowded and traffic is horrible. Too many people walking is not what I want for this assignment. I want the place with less people and traffic if possible and I can’t afford to contact L.A. City to close Hollywood/Highland area for me. Jake, a good friend of mine, suggested to shoot early morning (light bulb), the Golden Hours that is known among photographers, a couple hours after sunrise and before sunset, with less traffic and people. It has to be only in the morning because there will be tons of people in the evening.
Typically, I don’t get up early on weekends. With my curiosity of golden light in the morning , I decided to make it happen. I woke up at 6 A.M. since Hollywood/Highland is just 10 minutes drive. It was an easy drive, and street parking is free just a block from Hollywood Blvd. After getting out from the car and took a couple shots, I knew that light was perfect and atmosphere was perfect. Without a doubt, this is the perfect light for outdoor photo shoot.
